The Legend

The fang arrived in the 1840s.

The old vampires had no fangs. They smothered, they drained, they sat on the chest until morning. The bite came in with the penny serials, when a monster needed to be seen doing its work. One drop at the point is all the story needs. Everything after the bite is the reader's problem.

The craft

Ink sits on cloth. Thread lives in it.

Each emblem is sewn in dense flat stitch straight into the Tultex 245, so it catches the light the way a print never will. It will still be there when the print on every other shirt in the drawer has cracked and gone. The contrast sleeves are cut in, not dyed on. Three-quarter length, the way a raglan was always meant to be.

Embroidery

Flat embroidery, stitched not printed. The emblem is sewn in dense flat stitch, so it sits in the fabric rather than on top of it and will not crack, peel or fade.

Wash cold inside out, do not iron the embroidery.
