The Legend

The Eye of Ra

Bastet the Egyptian cat goddess, larger than life in a shadowed sun temple, golden swirls catching a shaft of light

Cross her threshold with good intent, and she is warmth itself. Cross it with ill, and you meet the lioness underneath.

Bastet is the daughter of Ra, born of the sun and set to guard it. Egypt knew her two ways at once: the gentle cat curled at the hearth, protector of the home, of women, of children and the newly born, and the older fury beneath her, the lioness who served as the Eye of Ra and turned her claws on the enemies of the sun. At her temple city of Bubastis the festivals drew crowds in the hundreds of thousands, and her sacred cats were mummified in her honor by the million.

She is the guardian you want at the door. Tender to her own, merciless to the rest.

Printed heavy on garment dyed cotton, in the warm gold of the sun she was born from. For the ones who keep something worth protecting.

She purrs at the hearth and tears at what threatens it.

The craft

Real ink, real weight, no plasticky patch.

This shirt is dyed after it is sewn, not before. The color soaks into the cotton and settles deeper around the seams and collar, so it wears in instead of out. No two come out exactly alike, and that is the point.

The art is printed with DTFlex, a glue-free transfer with clean edges and none of the thick plasticky square cheaper prints leave on top. It stays flexible, moves with the fabric, and will not crack, peel, or fade in the wash.

Print method

The art is printed with DTFlex, a glue-free direct-to-film transfer applied with heat and pressure. It bonds to the surface with clean, fine edges, with no thick plastic square, no glue residue, and no glossy patch. It stays flexible and will not crack, peel, or fade in the wash.

Care

Machine wash cold, inside out, with like colors. Skip the fabric softener, and air dry when you can. If you tumble dry, keep it low, and never iron directly over the print. Garment-dyed color keeps settling with every wash, so a little softening is a feature, not a fault.
